Hae Rim Lee

When I decided to apply to pharmacy school for a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree, I realized that I should take advantage of every possible opportunity, not the least of which involved finding financial aid through scholarships. In the fall of 2008, I began intense research for such scholarships to fund my education. One in particular stood head and shoulders above the rest: The 10K Scholarship. First and foremost, anyone is eligible for this scholarship, regardless of background, race or major. Secondly, the awarded amount accounts for a significant portion of my educational costs. Therefore, I applied for this scholarship with an optimistic mindset.

I plan on putting the 10,000 dollars awarded to me towards my tuition for the 2009/2010 school year. I will be exposed to stimulating courses in my third year of pharmacy, including pharmaceutics, biochemistry and pharmacology. The greatest challenge I will encounter now will be my schoolwork rather than the financial burdens of the rising costs of college. As can be seen, my attention is more greatly focused in the area which it belongs. Thank you 10K scholarship!!

My name is Tynetta Yarbrough. I live in Augusta, Georgia. I am currently fifteen years old and I am a rising sophomore this year in high school. When I imagine my future, I see myself being a very successful person in life. Wanting success in life but not up for the work that comes with it is one thing. But I demand success; I am prepared for all the obstacles and all the work that comes with it, and I’m not stopping until my goal is accomplished.

As the years fly by, its becoming more surreal to me that college is just around the corner. Along with college come finances. Thinking about college finances, I visited Google and searched for scholarship giveaways. I came across 10kScholarship.com and entered to win. Now, thanks to 10kScholarship.com, I can really make my dreams a reality.

I plan on being a pediatrician. I want to be a pediatrician because I enjoy working with children. I also find the medical field very interesting. Being a pediatrician is something I can see myself doing for the rest of my life. I know going to college to be a pediatrician will be a long, hard, journey. I am prepared for that journey, and I can’t wait to accomplish my goals.

Now it’s finally starting to sink in. I really did win a $10,000 scholarship. I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. I’m only one step closer to accomplishing all of my dreams in life and I can't thank 10kscholarship.com enough!

$10,000 Winner December 2005

10k Scholarship Winner: Name: Barbara Prudon Hometown: Franklin, IN Intended Degree: Masters in Social Work
Essay submitted by Barbara:

When I decided, at age fifty-something, to go back to school to work on my Masters in Social Work, I had to wonder if I had lost my mind. No, I didn't believe that I was too old to learn, but I had received a bachelor's degree in 1973, and tuition had risen a great deal since then. I had no money, to speak of, and was my own soul means of support. Even though I worked full-time, I did not make enough to enable me to pay for tuition, a computer, books, and all of the other expenses which come with school.

I borrowed money from my brother to buy a computer, and scraped up enough to pay for the prerequisites I needed to take, but after that, I was tapped out. I took out a student loan, knowing that I was going into debt, at an age when I should be saving what I could for retirement.

I began looking for other economic sources; grants, scholarships, anything that could help me out. I stumbled on 10KScholarship.com and filled out the information, thinking that I had nothing to lose. Apparently not, because I won! Now, I can pay back my student loan and help my niece when she is ready to attend college!
