What Is The Veterans Assistance Program? About VEAP The Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) is only accessible to those who entered the line of Active duty between the dates of 01/01/77-06/30/85, along with having allocated personal funds to contribute to this educational assistance program. Each personal donation made is on a $2 for $1 basis matched by the U.S. government. This beneficial program can be utilized for the following: - Degree and Certificate Programs
- Combat Training
- Apprenticeship and other related coursework
Depending on the extent of one’s monthly donations, will determine the prerogative of the benefit for 1-36 months. Each person has 10 years from their discharge from Active Duty status to utilize their benefits. If after the 10-year period expires where there still remains prerogative, then the remainder in the fund shall be reimbursed. Eligibility
To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria: - Joined up between 01/01/77-06/30/85
- Set up a donation account prior to 04/01/87
- Voluntarily donated $25-$2,700
- Finished your first term of Active Duty
- Were discharged or relieved of Duty for any other reason, not pertaining to dishonorable discharge
How to Apply Before any preliminary work is done, make sure that your program of choice is cleared for VA training. If you do not obtain clearance, the VA will inform you and the institution or corporation about the necessary requirements.
